Akoko South East

Akoko Southeast is a local government area found in Ondo state, Southwest Nigeria. With the headquarters of the LGA in the town of Oka, the Akoko southeast local government area is made up of several towns and villages which include Abulenla, Igbonla, Igboegun, Ose-oba, Ago ojo, Ayegunle, and Ipe.

The area is mainly populated by the members of the Yoruba tribe with Yoruba and English as the widely spoken languages. Christianity and Islam are the common religious affiliations in the area with a smaller percentage engaging in traditional religious practices. Akoko southeast is home to a number of prestigious festivals such as the New Yam festival and the Isua day festival. Notable landmarks within the Akoko southeast area include the Abud Construction company and the Charles engineering company.

Akoko southeast LGA covers a total area of 530 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 28 degrees centigrade with an estimated humidity of 60 percent. The area has two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons with total precipitation estimated at 2085 mm.

ECONOMY OF AKOKO SOUTH EAST

Akoko southeast LGA has a rich agricultural heritage with the cultivation of crops such as cocoa, cocoyam, and rice in fairly large quantities. The area also has an appreciable level of trade with the presence of several markets within the area such as the Mimiko market and the Ipe Central market.
