About Ose Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Ose local government area is domiciled in Ondo state, South-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria with the headquarters of the LGA in the town of Ifon. Ose LGA is made up of several towns and villages such as Ugbonla, Ifon, Ijagba, Idogun, Okeluse, Ogberuwen, Afo, and Ute. Ose LGA has an estimated population of 249,588 inhabitants with the area mostly populated by members of the Yoruba ethnic group. The Yoruba language is commonly spoken in the LGA while the religions of Christianity, traditionalism, and Islam are extensively practiced in the area. Prominent traditional rulers in Ose LGA include the Oba of Ido-Ani and the Owa of Ogbagi-akoko while notable landmarks in the LGA include the Ose Dam.


GEOGRAPHY OF OSE

Ose LGA covers a total area of 1,465 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 28 degrees centigrade. The LGA experiences two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons with the average wind speed in the LGA put at 9 km/h. 


ECONOMY OF OSE

Ose LGA has a boisterous agricultural sector with the area known for the cultivation of a number of crops such as plantain, cocoa, and pepper. The LGA is also rich in deposits of the mineral Kaolin. Trade also blossoms in Ose LGA with the area hosting several markets such as the Ido-Ani community market which attracts hundreds of buyers and sellers of diverse commodities. Other important economic activities undertaken by the people of Ose LGA include textile weaving, crafts making, animal rearing, and blacksmithing.
