About Abi Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Abi local government area is located within Cross River state in the Southsouth geopolitical zone of Nigeria. With its headquarters at Itigidi, Abi LGA comprises towns and villages such as Ediba, Anong, Usumutong, Abeugo, Afafanyi, and Ebom. The dominant ethnic groups in Abi are the Bahumono and the Agbo while the common spoken language is the Ohumono language.

The widely practiced religion in Abi is Christianity with a sizeable percentage of the city’s dwellers being traditional religious practitioners.

Abi local government area is also known for a rich cultural heritage characterized by festivals such as the Edele and Aji festivals.

Crude oil exploration and fishing are key economic activities in Abi while commerce is also vibrant in the city aided by the presence of several markets such as the Itigidi market.
