Ezeagu local government area is found in Enugu state, Southeast geopolitical zone of Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Aguobu-owa. Ezeagu LGA shares borders with the Udi, Uzo uwani, Oji river, and Awka North LGAs. Several towns and villages make up Ezeagu LGA and these include Amansi-odo, Umumba-Ndiagu, Neke, Obunofia-Ndiuno, Aguobu-owa, Agba-umana, and Amakwo-oghe. The estimated population of Ezeagu LGA is put at 146,707 inhabitants with the vast majority of the area’s populace made up of members of the Igbo ethnic group. The Igbo language is extensively spoken in Ezeagu LGA with Christianity as the most practiced religion in the area. A number of colourful festivals are held in Ezeagu LGA and these include the Mmanwu and the Odo festivals while notable landmarks in the area include the Okpoku waterfall Omughu and the Ezeagu tourist complex.
Ezeagu LGA covers a total area of 633 square kilometres and falls within the Savannah vegetation zone. The LGA has a number of rivers flowing through its territory and these include the Duu, Kalawa and Nnam rivers. The average temperature of Ezeagu LGA is 28 degrees centigrade while the average humidity level of the area is 71 percent.
Farming is the major economic activity in Ezeagu LGA with crops such as cassava, yam, cocoyam, and maize grown in substantially large quantities in the area. Trade is also an important economic feature in Ezeagu LGA with the area hosting several markets where a plethora of goods and services are exchanged. These markets include the Nkwo Ezeagu and the Idume Aguobu markets.
