About Igbo Eze South Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Igbo eze south local government area is in Enugu state, Southeast geopolitical division of Nigeria with the headquarters of the LGA in the town of Ibagwa-aka. Igbo eze south LGA is made up of several towns and villages which include Unadu, Uhunowerre, Iheakpu-Awka, Oroko-ulo, Ovoko agu Iheaka, Itchi, Eror Agu and Ibagwa-aka. The estimated population of Igbo eze south LGA is 160,931 inhabitants with the Igbo as the most populous tribe in the area. The Igbo language is extensively spoken in the area while Christianity is the widely practiced religion in the area. Popular festivals held in Igbo eze South LGA include the Egab-eze and the New Yam festivals.

Igbo eze south LGA covers a total area of 158 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 28 degrees centigrade. The average wind speed in the area is 10 km/h while the total rainfall in the area is estimated at 1800 mm per annum. The average humidity level of Igbo eze south LGA is 68 percent.


ECONOMY OF IGBO EZE SOUTH

The major economic activity of the dwellers of Igbo eze south LGA is farming with crops such as yam, oil palm, okro and vegetables grown in the area. The area also has a vibrant trade sector  and hosts a number of markets such as the Nkwo Ibagwa and the Eke Itchi markets. Other important economic activities of the people of Igbo eze south LGA include palm wine tapping, craftsmanship, and blacksmithing.
