About Igbo Eze North Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Igbo eze north local government area is in Enugu state, Southeast geopolitical division of Nigeria. The LGA is bordered by parts of Kogi and Benue states. Igbo eze LGA has its headquarters in the town of Enugu-Ezike and is made up of towns and villages such as Mberubu, Agbogazi, Obolo-eke, Ogungu, Adani, Ake-eze, Mbalaze, Mgbowo, and Ogumte. The estimated population of Igbo eze north LGA is 158,613 inhabitants with the vast majority of the area’s populace made up of members of the Igbo ethnic group. The Igbo language is widely spoken in the area while Christianity is the most practiced religion in the LGA. Popular festivals celebrated in Igbo eze north LGA include the Omabe masquerade and the New Yam festivals.

Igbo eze north LGA covers a total area of 293 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 28 degrees centigrade. The average humidity level of the LGA is 69 percent while the average wind speed in the area is 10 km/h.


ECONOMY OF IGBO EZE NORTH

Farming is the major occupation of the people of Igbo eze north LGA with crops such as yam, cassava, cocoyam, and vegetables grown in the area. The LGA also has a vibrant trade sector with the area hosting several markets such as the Eke Ozzi market, the Afor market in Obollo and the Orie Umu Ozzi market. Other important economic activities in Igbo eze north LGA include hunting and craftsmanship.
