About Kaduna South Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Kaduna south local government area is situated within Kaduna state, Northwest Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Makera. A number of districts, towns, and villages make up Kaduna South LGA and these include Badiko, Barnawa, Makera, Sabon Gari, Tudun wada, Kakuri Gwari, and Kakuri Hausa. The estimated population of Kaduna south LGA is put at 285,413 inhabitants with the area comprising of people from a number of diverse tribes with the predominant being the Gbagyi. The Gbagyi and Hausa languages are commonly spoken in Kaduna south LGA while Christianity is the most practiced religion in the area. Kaduna South LGA is a part of the Zazzau Emirate and has a number of notable landmarks such as the Harmony Hospitals.


GEOGRAPHY OF KADUNA SOUTH

Kaduna South LGA covers a total area of about 59 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 33 degrees centigrade. The topography of the LGA is mostly flat with the estimated elevation put at 650 meters above sea level. Kaduna South LGA witnesses two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons.


ECONOMY OF KADUNA SOUTH

Trade is an essential feature of the economy of Kaduna South LGA with the area hosting several markets such as the Makera Kakuri and the Kasuwa markets where a variety of commodities are bought and sold. The LGA also hosts a plethora of Hotels, eateries, relaxation spots, and institutions which are both privately and publicly owned. Other important economic enterprises engaged in by people of Kaduna south include rearing of animals, hunting, and craftsmanship.
