About Kubau Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Kubau local government area is domiciled in Kaduna state, North-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Anchau. Towns and villages that make up Kubau LGA include Anchau, Pampegua, Zuntu, Karreh, Kubau, Zabi, Kargi, and Haskiya. The estimated population of Kubau LGA is put at 267,801 inhabitants with the majority of the area’s inhabitants being members of the Hausa and the Fulani ethnic groups. The Hausa language is commonly spoken in the area while the religions of Islam and Christianity are both practiced in the area.


GEOGRAPHY OF KUBAU

Kubau LGA witnesses two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons. The average temperature of the area is put at 33 degrees centigrade while the total precipitation in the LGA is put at 1100 mm of rainfall per annum.


ECONOMY OF KUBAU

Kabau LGA has a vibrant trade sector and hosts a number of markets such as the Dutsenwai and the Anchau weekly markets. A number of mineral deposits are found in Kubau LGA and these include Iron ore and tin. Farming is also a critical part of the economy of Kubau LGA with crops such as sugarcane and millet grown in large quantities in the area.

HISTORY OF KUBAU

Kubau LGA was created on the 2nd day of November, 1995 from the Ikara LGA.
