Kajuru

Kajuru local government area is domiciled in Kaduna state, Northwest Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Kajuru. Kajuru LGA is bordered by the Igabi, Chikun, Kauru, Zangon kataf, and Kachia LGAs. A number of towns and villages make up Kajuru LGA and these include Maiyola, Kajuru, Kalla, Kasuwar Magani, and Iri. The estimated population of Kajuru LGA is put at 247,888 inhabitants with the area hosting members of diverse ethnic affiliations chief of which is the Adara tribe. The Hausa language is one of the languages spoken in Kajuru LGA with the religions of Islam and Christianity being widely practiced in the area. A number of landmarks are found in Kajuru LGA and these include the Kajuru Castle.

Kajuru LGA sits on a total area of 2,464 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 33 degrees centigrade. The LGA falls within the tropical savannah climate region and has an average humidity level of 30 percent. The area hosts a number of rivers and tributaries such as the Rivers Rimau and Iri. Kajuru LGA has a Guinea Savannah Vegetation.

ECONOMY OF KAJURU

Farming is a major component of the economy of Kajuru LGA with the area known for the cultivation of a number of crops such as tomatoes, onions, okro, pepper, and sugarcane. Trade also blossoms in Kajuru LGA with the area hosting a number of markets where a variety of commodities are bought and sold and these include the Kasuwan Magani market. Other important economic activities engaged in by the people of Kajuru LGA include animal rearing, pottery, and leather works.

Kajuru LGA was created in the month of March, 1997 from the Chikun LGA.
