Zangon kataf local government area is in Kaduna state, North-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Zonkwa and the LGA is made up of several towns and villages which include Samaru, Zankwa, Bajju, Bakut, Anza, Fadiya, Busan, Ladduga, Ikulu, and Fadankaje. The current estimated population of Zangon kataf LGA is put at 295,691 inhabitants with the LGA mostly occupied by members of the Atyap ethnic configuration. The Tyap and Hausa languages are commonly spoken in Zangon Kataf LGA while the religions of Christianity and Islam are practiced in the area. Zangon kataf LGA is part of the Zazzau Emirate and has a number of notable landmarks such as the Government Secondary School, Fadankaje.


Zangon kataf LGA occupies a total area of 2,668 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 33 degrees centigrade. The LGA witnesses two distinct seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons with the average humidity level in the area put at 27 percent,


One of the important economic activities that take place in Zangon kataf LGA is the brewing of a popular local alcoholic beverage known as Akan. Trade also booms in the LGA with the area hosting several markets such as the Katsit and the Samaru kataf markets where a wide variety of commodities are bought and sold. Other important enterprises engaged in by the people of Zangon kataf LGA include farming, pottery, and crafts making.
