Ahoada East

Ahoada East is a local government area situated in the Rivers state of the Southsouth geopolitical enclave of Nigeria. Created in 1996, the LGA has its headquarters in the town of Ahoada and comprises of towns such as Abarikpo, Ebiro, Edeoha, Mbiama, Odiemudie, Okolobiama, and Ubie.

Ahoada east is home to several tribes with the Ekpeye being the indigenous tribe and most populous. The Ekpeye dialect alongside the English language is commonly spoken in the area. The population of Ahoada east LGA is estimated at 340,567 inhabitants while Christianity and traditional religion are the widely practiced faiths in the area. Ahoada East LGA has a number of landmarks which include the vast Upper Orashi forest reserves.

Ahoada East has an estimated average temperature of 27 degrees centigrade with humidity at 88 percent. The area has two major seasons which are the dry and rainy seasons with the rainy season characterized by heavy and consistent showers.

ECONOMY OF AHOADA EAST

Farming and fishing are major economic engagements of the people of Ahoada East local government area. Also, crude oil exploration in the area and other nearby areas adds immensely to the economic life of Ahoada East LGA. Trade is another major means of livelihood in Ahoada East with the area featuring several markets such as the Edeoha market and the Isusa market.
