Oyigbo

Oyigbo local government area is domiciled in Rivers state, South-south geopolitical zone of Nigeria with its headquarters in the town of Afam. The LGA is made up of towns, villages, and districts such as Obeama, Azusogu, Okoloma, Umuosi, Mgboji, Egberu, Okponta, Afaukwu, and Ndoki. The current estimated population of Oyigbo LGA is put at 209,841 inhabitants with the area hosting members of the Obigbo sub-division of the Igbo ethnic group. The Obigbo dialect is commonly spoken in theLGA while the religions of Christianity and traditionalism are extensively practiced in the area. The paramount traditional ruler in Oyigbo LGA is the Eze of Oyigbo while the prominent festivals held in the LGA include the Ekpe masquerade festival.
