About Agaie Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Agaie is a local government area found in Niger state in the Northcentral geopolitical zone of Nigeria. With the headquarters in the heart of Agaie town, the Agaie local government area features towns and villages such as Afuwagi, Ahashe, Angunu, Bototi, Buyana, and Chata. The original dwellers in the area now known as Agaie LGA are the Nupe people with Nupe, fufulde,  Hausa and English as the commonly spoken languages in the area.

 


GEOGRAPHY OF AGAIE

Agaie local government area covers a total area measuring 1903 km squared with wind speed pegged at 5km/h. Agaie LGA has two distinct seasons; the dry and the rainy seasons with an estimated humidity of 57 percent.


ECONOMY OF AGAIE

Agaie local government area is known for agriculture as well as commerce while other economic engagements in the area include cattle rearing and mineral mining.

HISTORY OF AGAIE

Agaie became a Fulani empire and an Emirate in the year 1822 with the present Emir of Agaie being Alhaji Yusuf Nuhu.
