About Munya Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Munya local government area is domiciled in Niger state, North-central geopolitical zone of Nigeria with its headquarters in the town of Sarkin Pawa. Towns and villages that make up Munya LGA include Guni, Angunu, Kabula, Kazai, Zaggaga, Beni, Fuka, and Dangunu. The current estimated population of Munya LGA is put at 234,566 inhabitants with the area mostly populated by members of the Gwari ethnic group. The Gwari language is commonly spoken in Munya LGA while the religions of Islam and Christianity are practiced in the area. Notable landmarks in Munya LGA include the Development Institute Training Center in Dandaudu.


GEOGRAPHY OF MUNYA

Munya LGA covers a total area of 2,176 square kilometres and has the River Kaduna flowing through its territories. The area witnesses two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons with the average temperature of the LGA put at 30 degrees centigrade.


ECONOMY OF MUNYA

Farming is an important economic activity undertaken by the residents of Munya LGA with a number of crops such as millet and tomatoes cultivated in the area. Trade also blossoms in Munya LGA with the area hosting a number of markets which attract thousands of buyers and sellers each day. Other important economic enterprises engaged in by the people of Munya LGA include hunting, wood work and animal rearing.
