Suleja

Suleja local government area is domiciled in Niger state, North-central geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The LGA is a part of the Suleja Emirate and has close proximity to the Federal Capital Territory. Towns and villages that make up Suleja LGA include Gupena, Apia, Buru, Gusun, Guraka, Bwoi, Chimbi, and Chizako. The current total estimated population of Suleja LGA is put at 193,822 inhabitants with the LGA mostly inhabited by members of the Hausa, Gbagyi, Gwari, and Fulani ethnic distinctions. The Hausa language is commonly spoken in Suleja LGA while the religions of Islam and Christianity are extensively practiced in the area. Notable landmarks in Suleja LGA include the Ladi Kwali Pottery Center and the Dorben Polytechnic Campus.

Suleja LGA falls within the Tropical Savannah Climate zone and has the Makabolo River flowing through its territory. The LGA is well forested and covers a total area of 2980 square kilometres. A few hills and rocks also dot the landscape of the LGA.

Suleja LGA has a vibrant trade sector and hosts a number of markets such as the Suleja Cattle market and the Madalla market which attract thousands of buyers and sellers. Other important economic activities undertaken by the people of Suleja LGA include pottery, cotton weaving and dyeing, farming and the rearing of a variety of domestic animals.
