About Abeokuta North Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Abeokuta North is a local government area found within the city of Abeokuta in the Ogun state of Southwest Nigeria. The headquarters of Abeokuta North LGA are in the town of Akomoje in the Iberekodo area of Abeokuta City. Abeokuta North is made up o several towns and villages which include Ago, Ikija, Ago-oko, Oke-Ago, and Olorunda.

Abeokuta North LGA has the Yoruba as the dominant and indigenous tribe while Yoruba and English are the commonly spoken languages. 

Notable landmarks in Abeokuta North include the Oyan Dam, and the Yemoji natural pool.

Abeokuta North LGA which was created in 1981 covers a total area of about 808 km squared. The average temperature of the LGA is 29 degrees centigrade while the average humidity level of the area is put at 46 percent.


ECONOMY OF ABEOKUTA NORTH

Abeokuta North LGA  has a vibrant economic life which features activities such as subsistence farming, pottery, tie and dye, wood carving, and blacksmithing. Popular markets in the area include the Kuto market, and the Itoku market.
