About Remo North Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Remo North local government area is domiciled in Ogun state, South-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The LGA is bordered by the Ijebu North, Ikenne, and Obafemi owode LGAs and by parts of Oyo state. The LGA comprises of several towns and villages which include Akaka, Orile-oko, Itara, Ode-remo, Isara, and Ipara. The current estimated population of Remo North LGA is put at 209,439 inhabitants with the area primarily inhabited by members of the Remo sub-division of the Yoruba ethnic sub-division. The Remo dialect of the Yoruba language is commonly spoken in the LGA while the religions of Christianity and Islam are extensively practiced in the area.Popular festivals held in Remo North LGA include the Gunuko, Olode, and Agemo festivals while the notable landmarks in the area include the Yusakeem ventures and the Belco Roofing Industries, Isara.


GEOGRAPHY OF REMO NORTH

Remo North LGA has an average temperature of 27 degrees centigrade with the LGA hosting a number of streams and rivers. The LGA witnesses two distinct seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons with the average humidity level in the area put at 59 percent.


ECONOMY OF REMO NORTH

Remo North LGA hosts a number of industries with most of them engaged in quarrying. Trade also flourishes in Remo North LGA with the area hosting several markets such as the popular Kara market where a variety of commodities are bought and sold. Other important economic activities engaged in by the people of Remo North LGA include farming, textile weaving, and hunting.

HISTORY OF REMO NORTH

Remo North LGA was created on the 1st of October 1996 from the Ikenne LGA.
