About Lamurde Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Lamurde local government area is domiciled in Adamawa state, North-east geopolitical zone of Nigeria. Several towns and villages make up Lamurde LGA and these include Ngbamoto, Toto, Hadiyo, Rigange, Kauya, Lamurde, Boyen, and Mwanatari. The estimated population of Lamurde LGA is put at 163,404 inhabitants with the majority of the area’s dwellers being members of the Bwatiye/Bachama ethnic group. The Bachama language is extensively spoken in the area while the religions of Islam and Christianity are practiced in the area. Prominent traditional rulers in Lamurde LGA include the Hama of Bachama kingdom.


Lamurde LGA has an average temperature of 32 degrees centigrade and the area witnesses two distinct seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons. The average humidity level of the LGA is put at 29 percent while the average wind speed in the area is estimated to be around 11km/h.


Lamurde LGA is home to an agrarian society with the area known for the cultivation of a variety of crops and the rearing of a number of animals. Trade also booms in Lamurde LGA with the area being home to several markets which attract hundreds of buyers and sellers.
