About Yola North Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Yola North local government area is in Adamawa state, North-east geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Yola and the LGA is made up of several districts and suburbs which include Aikalawa, Luggere, Nasarawo, Yelwa, Bako, Jimeta, Mubi Road, and Airforce Road. The estimated population of Yola North is put at 279,842 inhabitants with the area hosting members of diverse ethnic affiliations. The Hausa language is commonly spoken in the LGA while the religion of Islam is widely practiced in the area. Notable landmarks in Yola North LGA include the Federal University of Technology Yola and the Damilu Primary School.

Yola North LGA has an average temperature of 33 degrees centigrade and witnesses two distinct seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons. The LGA hosts the popular Mandara Mountains range and the area has an average wind speed of 10km/h.


ECONOMY OF YOLA NORTH

Yola North LGA has a boisterous trade sector and hosts a number of markets which include the Jimeta Modern market and the Kasuwar Gwari market which attract thousands of buyers and sellers of diverse commodities. The LGA also hosts a number of banks, industries, privately owned establishments, as well as government owned organizations which all contribute to the economy of the area.
