About Maiha Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Maiha local government area is domiciled in Adamawa state, North-east geopolitical zone of Nigeria with headquarters in the town of Maiha. Towns and villages that make up Maiha LGA include Kilanye, Bwade, Jamtari, Njilang, Maner, Mbalagi, Kasagila, Sindigawa, and Zabi. The estimated population of Maiha LGA is put at 188,942 inhabitants and the area is mostly populated by members of the Kilba, Margi, and Fulani ethnic groups. The Kilba language is commonly spoken in Maiha LGA while the religion of Islam is widely practiced in the area.

Maiha LGA has an average temperature of 32 degrees centigrade and the area witnesses two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons. The average humidity level in the LGA is put at 24 percent while the average wind speed in the area is estimated at 11 km/h.


ECONOMY OF MAIHA

A number of economic activities take place in Maiha LGA with the majority of the area’s dwellers engaging in Agricultural practices. A wide number of crops are grown in the LGA while some animals are also reared and sold in the LGA. Other important economic engagements of the people of Maiha LGA include crafts making, pottery and hunting.
