About Madagali Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Madagali local government area is in Adamawa state, North-east Nigeria with its headquarters in the town of Madagali. The LGA is bordered by the Michika, Askira Uba, and Gwoza LGAs and by parts of the Cameroon Republic. Towns and villages that make up Madagali LGA include Madagali, Kirchinga, Duhu, Sukur, Gulak, Kwamda, Ndalmi, and Lamadu. The estimated population of Madagali LGA is put at 213,401 inhabitants with the vast majority of the area’s dwellers being members of the Marghi and the Fulani ethnic groups. The Fufulde and Marghi languages are commonly spoken in Madagali LGA while the religion of Islam is practiced in the area.

Madagali LGA has an average temperature of 34 degrees centigrade and witnesses two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons. The average wind speed in Madagali LGA is put at 11 km/h while the total precipitation in the area is estimated to be around 900 mm of rainfall per annum.


ECONOMY OF MADAGALI

Trade is an important feature of the economy of Madagali LGA with the area hosting several markets such as the Gulak central market where a wide variety of commodities are bought and sold. The LGA is also known for economic enterprises such as farming, hunting, and pottery.
