Binji

Binji local government area is situated in Sokoto state which is in the Northwest geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Binji and comprises several towns and villages which include Samama, Jamali, Gwazzai, Bunkari, Binji, Inname, and Maikulki. The population of Binji LGA is put at 131,772 inhabitants with the majority of this number being members of the Hausa and Fulani ethnic divisions. Islam is the widely practiced religion in Binji LGA while the Fufulde language is commonly spoken within the area.

Binji local government area sits on an area measuring about 559 square kilometres and has an average annual temperature of 34 degrees centigrade. The area has two distinct seasons; the dry season and the rainy season while the humidity level is estimated at 11 percent.

ECONOMY OF BINJI

Agriculture is the major source of income for the dwellers of Binji LGA with a variety of crops such as sugarcane grown in the area. Other popular economic activities in Binji LGA include pottery, hunting, cattle rearing and blacksmithing. Trade also booms in the area as there is a large number of markets within the area where the exchange of a wide variety of goods and services take place.
