About Gwadabawa Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Gwadabawa local government area is domiciled in Sokoto state, Northwest Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Gwadabawa. A number of towns and villages make up Gwadabawa LGA and these include Gidan Kaya, Mammande, Zugana, Wodai, Dan Abba, Gigani, Chaucha, and Alela. The estimated population of Gwadabawa LGA is 167,098 inhabitants with the majority of the area’s inhabitants being members of the Hausa and the Fulani ethnic groups. The Hausa and the Fufulde languages are widely spoken in the area while Islam is the commonly practiced religion in the LGA. Notable landmarks in Gwadabawa LGA include the Gwadabawa School of Health Technology.

Gwadabawa LGA covers a total area of 991 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 34 degrees centigrade. The area witnesses two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons while the average wind speed in the area is 11 km/h.


ECONOMY OF GWADABAWA

Farming is a key economic feature in Gwadabawa LGA with crops such as onions and tomatoes grown in the area. Also, animals such as camels, rams, and horses are reared in the area. Trade also blossoms in Gwadabawa LGA with the area hosting several markets where a plethora of commodities are bought and sold.
