About Tambuwal Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Tambuwal local government area is situated in Sokoto state, North-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Tambuwal with the area hosting a number of towns and villages such as Ganuwa, Dagon Daji, Jabo, Sanyinna, Gindi, Bakaya, Modo, Nabaguda, and Shabra. Tambuwal LGA has an estimated population of 209,414 inhabitants with the area predominantly occupied by members of the Hausa/Fulani ethnic divisions. The Hausa language is commonly spoken in the LGA while the religion of Islam is widely practiced in the area. Festivals celebrated in Tambuwal LGA include the Romo fishing festival.


GEOGRAPHY OF TAMBUWAL

Tambuwal LGA occupies a total area of 1,717 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 33 degrees centigrade. The LGA has two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons with the dry seasons in the LGA typically characterized by very hot and humid weather.


ECONOMY OF TAMBUWAL

Tambuwal LGA has a rich farming heritage with crops such as rice, milet, and soybeans grown in the LGA. Animal rearing also booms in the LGA with a number of domestic animals such as cows, goats, camels, and rams grown in the LGA. Other important economic activities in Tambuwal LGA include fishing, blcksmithing, and pottery.
