About Yabo Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Yabo local government area is found in Sokoto state, North-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Yabo. Yabo LGA comprises of several towns and villages which include Budurega, Kibiyare, Binji, Bingaje, Dono, Fakka, Muza, Torankawa, and Ruggar. The current estimated population of Yabo LGA is put at 209,462 inhabitants with the area predominantly occupied by members of the Hausa/Fulani ethnic group. The Hausa and the Fufulde languages are commonly spoken in the LGA while the religion of Islam is widely practiced in the area. Notable landmarks in Yabo LGA include the Nizzamiyya Islamiyya Model Primary School and the General Hospital, Yabo.


GEOGRAPHY OF YABO

Yabo LGA sits on a total area of 789 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 34 degrees centigrade. The LGA witnesses two distinct seasons which are thedry and the rainy seasons with the dry seasons in the LGA usually characterized by very high temperatures.


ECONOMY OF YABO

Farming is an important aspect of the economy of Yabo LGA with crops such as rice, millet, and groundnut grown in the area. Trade also flourishes in the LGA with the area playing host to several markets which provide platforms for the exchange of a variety of goods and services. Other economic activities that take place inYabo LGA include animal rearing and hunting.
