About Dange Shuni Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Dange Shuni local government area is in Sokoto state, Northwest Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Danje. The LGA consists of several towns and villages which include Shuni, Hausawa Maiwa, Tudun-Yando, Dange, and Rikina. The population of Dange Shuni LGA is put at 125,607 inhabitants with the area being mostly populated by members of the Fulani ethnic division. The Hausa and the Fufulde languages are spoken extensively in Dange Shuni LGA while Islam is the widely practiced religion in the area. Dange Shuni LGA is home to a number of festivals which include the Halbi and the Shan Gumba festivals.


GEOGRAPHY OF DANGE SHUNI

Dange Shuni LGA covers a total area of 1,210 square kilometres with the average temperature of the area put at 33.5 degrees centigrade. The area witnesses two major seasons which are the rainy and the dry seasons with the latter often characterized by extremely hot temperatures. The total precipitation level of Dange Shuni LGA is 1210 mm of rainfall while the humidity of the area is put at 14 percent.


ECONOMY OF DANGE SHUNI

Dange Shuni LGA has the majority of its dwellers as farmers with the area producing a wide range of crops. Also, hunting and fishing are important economic activities in the area with trade also booming in the LGA with the presence of several markets such as the Shuni and Gajara markets.
