Kebbe

Kebbe local government area is found in Sokoto state, North-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Kebbe. Kebbe LGA falls under the Sokoto South Senatorial district and shares boundaries with parts of Zamfara and Kebbi states. Kebbe LGA comprises of a number of towns and villages such as Dukura, Ungushi, Gwandi, Jabga, Margai, Matseri, Kebbe, and Fakku. The estimated population of Kebbe LGA is put at 149,529 inhabitants with the majority of the area’s inhabitants being members of the Hausa and the Fulani ethnic groups. The Hausa language is commonly spoken in Kebbe LGA with Islam being the most practiced religion in the LGA.

Kebbe LGA sits on a total area of 2,618 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 34 degrees centigrade. The area witnesses two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons with the temperature in the area being mostly hot and humid. Total precipitation in Kebbe LGA is estimated at 850 mm of rainfall per annum.

ECONOMY OF KEBBE

A number of economic activities are undertaken by the people of Kebbe LGA and these include farming, hunting, crafts making and trade. Also, a number of animals such as cows, goats, and rams are reared and sold in the LGA.
