Damaturu

Damaturu local government area is found in Damaturu  which is in Yobe state, Northeast Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA is domiciled in Damaturu and consists of several towns and villages which include Sasawa, Bayan Tasha, Gwange, Maisandari, Bindigari, and Lamisula. Damaturu LGA is the headquarters of the Damaturu Emirate and has an estimated population of 194,089 inhabitants with the majority being members of the Hausa ethnic group. The hausa language is extensively spoken in the area while Islam is the commonly practiced in the area. Popular landmarks in  Damaturu LGA include the Yobe state University and the Damaturu Central Mosque.
