Machina

Machina local government area is in Yobe state, Northeast Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Machina. The LGA is bordered by parts of the Niger Republic and is made up of several towns and villages such as Dole and Machina. Machina LGA hosts the Machina Emirate and has a number of festivals such as the Machina cultural festival held in the area. The estimated population of Machina LGA is put at 169,862 inhabitants with the majority of the area’s inhabitants being members of the Hausa and the Fulani ethnic groups. The Hausa and the Fufulde languages are commonly spoken in the LGA while the religion of Islam is widely practiced in the area. The Sarkin Machina is a prominent traditional ruler in Machina LGA.

Farming is an important economic activity in Machina LGA with the area known for the cultivation of a number of crops. Trade also booms in Machina LGA with the area hosting several markets where a plethora of commodities are bought and sold. Also, a number of domestic animals such as camels, rams and horses are reared and sold in Machina LGA.
