About Jakusko Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Jakusko local government area is in Yobe state, North-east geopolitical enclave of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Jakusko with the LGA sharing boundaries with Bade, Potiskum, and Karasuwa LGAs and with parts of Bauchi and Jigawa states. Jakusko LGA is made up of several towns and villages which include Gogaram, Karage, and Gashua. The estimated population of Jausko LGA is 149,528 inhabitants with the majority of the area’s inhabitants being members of the Bade ethnic group. The Bade language is commonly spoken in Jakusko LGA while the religions of Islam and Christianity are widely practiced in the area. Notable landmarks in Jakusko LGA include the Dachia primary school and the Central primary School, Jakusko.


GEOGRAPHY OF JAKUSKO

Jakusko LGA covers a total area of 3,941 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 33 degrees centigrade. The average humidity level of the LGA is 29 percent while the average wind speed in the area is 10 km/h. Jakusko LGA hosts the popular Al-kamaram river which flows through the LGA.


ECONOMY OF JAKUSKO

Farming is a key feature of the economy of Jakusko LGA with a wide variety of crops grown within the area. A number of domestic animals such as camels, cattle, donkeys, and rams are reared and sold in the area. Trade also flourishes in the LGA with the area hosting a number of markets where a plethora of items are bought and sold.
