Arewa

Arewa local government area is found in Kebbi state, Northwest Nigeria. The local government area has its headquarters in the town of Arewa Dandi and shares boundaries with parts of the Republic of Niger. Arewa LGA is made up of several towns which include Amagwato, Bachaka, Baraje, Jantullu, Jarkuka, Kangiwa, and Gunki.

The popular languages spoken in Arewa LGA include Hausa and Fufulde while Islam is the widely practiced religion in the area. The population of Arewa LGA is estimated at 115, 044 inhabitants with the most populous tribes being the Hausa and Fulani.

GEOGRAPHY OF AREWA

Arewa LGA covers a total area of 3,901 square kilometres and has two distinct seasons which are the rainy and dry seasons. The dry seasons feature extremely hot weather with the average temperature of the area estimated at 34 degrees centigrade. The average humidity of the area is put at 24 percent while the landscape is characterized by dry, arid plains with a litter of hills and other elevations.

The major economic engagement of the people of Arewa LGA is Agriculture with the area known for the cultivation of a number of crops such as grains and Onions. Cattle rearing is another popular economic engagement in Arewa LGA and is very popular amongst the Fulani population of the area.
