Zuru

Zuru local government area is domiciled in Kebbi state, North-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Zuru with the LGA hosting the Zuru Emirate. Towns, districts and villages that make up Zuru LGA include Bomgogomo, Zuru, Zango, Unguwar zuru, Tanko Ayuba, Zuru Jarkasa, Nataya Road, and Magoro Road. The estimated population of Zuru LGA is put at 163,491 inhabitants with the area hosting members of the Dakarkari and Zuru ethnic divisions. The Lela language is commonly spoken in the LGA while the religion of Islam is extensively practiced in the area. Festivals held in Zuru LGA include the Uhola festival while the notable landmarks in the area include Girmache shrine and the Government Girls Secondary School, Zuru.

GEOGRAPHY OF ZURU

Zuru LGA covers a total area of 653 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 34 degrees centigrade. The LGA witnesses two distinct seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons with the dry seasons in the LGA characterized by extremely hot and humid temperatures.

ECONOMY OF ZURU

Zuru LGA has a viable agricultural sector with the area known for the cultivation of a number of crops such as onions and rice. A number of animals are also reared and sold in the LGA. Trade also blossoms in Zuru LGA with the area hosting several markets where a variety of commodities are bought and sold.
