About Sakaba Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Sakaba local government area is in Kebbi state, North-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Sakaba. The LGA is a part of the Zuru Emirate and is made up of several towns and villages such as Dirin Daji, Dorowa, Makuku, Adai, Ahdoga, Usi, Mahuta, and Ghazi. The LGA has an estimated population of 285,300 inhabitants with the area mostly populated by members of the Hausa, Dakarkari, and the Fulani ethnic groups. The Hausa and Fufulde languages are commonly spoken in Sakaba LGA while the religion of Islam is widely practiced in the area. A number of festivals such as the Uhola festival are celebrated in Sakaba LGA while the notable landmarks in the area include the Karishi traditional settlement.


GEOGRAPHY OF SAKABA

Sakaba LGA covers a total area of 1,260 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 33 degrees centigrade. The LGA witnesses two distinct seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons with the average wind speed in the area put at 11 km/h.


ECONOMY OF SAKABA

Sakaba local government area has a vibrant trade sector with the LGA hosting several markets such as the Dirin Daji market where a variety of commodities are bought and sold. The Area is also a hub for the cultivation of a variety of food and cash crops. Other important economic activities in Sakaba LGA include hunting, animal rearing and pottery.
