About Amuwo-odofin Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Amuwo-odofin local government area is one of the twenty LGAs in Lagos state, Southwest Nigeria. Amuwo-odofin consists of two Local council development areas which are the Oriade LCDA and the Amuwo LCDA. The LGA is made up of several districts which include Abule Osun, Agboju, Ifelodun, Orire, Irede, and Ijegun.

Amuwo-Odofin has an estimated population of 547,800 inhabitants with the majority of the dwellers being members of the Yoruba ethnic group. Christianity and Islam are the dominant religious affiliations in Amuwo-Odofin while Yoruba and English are the commonly spoken languages. Notable landmarks in Amuwo-odofin include the Festival Mall and the Sunfit limited company.

Amuwo-odofin LGA has an average temperature of 27 degrees centigrade while the humidity of the area is put at 80 percent.There are two major seasons in Amuwo-odofin LGA which are the dry and rainy seasons.


ECONOMY OF AMUWO-ODOFIN

Amuwo-odofin LGA is an important commercial center in Lagos state with the area having an abundance of public and private institutions. Banks, hotels, supermarkets and shopping malls litter the Amuwo-odofin local government area. Popular markets in the area such as the Agboju, Jankara, and the Akinjoe markets attract thousands of buyers and sellers whilst contributing immensely to the economy of the area.
