About Ojo Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Ojo local government area is one of the twenty LGAs in Lagos state, South-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The LGA is made up of several districts which include Ira, Olojo, Alaba, Ojo, Okokomaiko, Shibiri, Abule Ade, Idoluwo, and Ilogbo. Ojo LGA is domiciled in an urban and cosmopolitan area and has an estimated population of 499,503 inhabitants with the area hosting members of diverse ethnic affiliations. The Yoruba language is commonly spoken in the LGA while the religions of Christianity and Islam are practiced within the area. Notable landmarks in Ojo LGA include the Lagos state University campus.


Ojo LGA has an average temperature of 27 degrees centigrade with an average humidity level of 69 percent. The LGA witnesses two distinct seasons which are the dry season which runs between the months of November to March and the rainy season which comes between the months of April to October.


Ojo LGA is a renowned trade hub with the area hosting the very popular Alaba international market which is one of the largest electronics market in the whole of West Africa. Ojo LGA also hosts several banks, hotels, restaurants, industries, boutiques, as well as government owned institutions which contribute to the economy of the LGA.
