Apapa

Apapa local government area is in Lagos state, domiciled in the Southwest geopolitical enclave of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Apapa is a critical area in the economy of Lagos state and Nigeria in general with the presence of two ports which are the Apapa port and the Tin Can Island ports which witnesses the movement of containers and bulk cargo.

The area also hosts the headquarters of the Nigerian Ports Authority with the presence of a number of terminals and the Apapa wharf. Popular landmarks in Apapa include the BUA Group refineries, ThisDay newspapers, Folawiyo towers, and the Kirikiri maximum prison.

GEOGRAPHY OF APAPA

Apapa LGA has two major seasons which are the dry season which runs from November-March and the rainy season which runs through April- October. The average humidity of Apapa LGA is 80 percent while the average temperature of the area is 26 degrees centigrade.

ECONOMY OF APAPA

Apapa local government area is economically indispensable to the state of Lagos with the ports and clearing companies providing employment to thousands of people. The area is also characterized  by several petroleum product depots. The headquarters of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the NIMASA are also domiciled within the area and generate enormous resources for the state and Federal governments.
