About Jos East Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Jos East LGA is found in Plateau state which is domiciled in the North-central geopolitical enclave of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Angware with the LGA made up of several towns and villages which include Fobur, Zarrazong, Fursum, Nitseng, Shere, Maigemu, Federe, and Nakwang. The estimated population of Jos East LGA is put at 301, 418 inhabitants with the predominant ethnic group in the LGA being the Jarawa who are also referred to as the Afizere. The Afizere language is commonly spoken in the area while the religions of Christianity and Islam are practiced within the area. There are a number of traditional rulers in Jos East LGA and these include the Adagwom Izere.                                   


GEOGRAPHY OF JOS EAST

Jos East LGA covers a total area of 1020 square kilmoeters and has an average temperature of 28 degrees centigrade. The area witnesses two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons with the total precipitation level in the area put at 1750 mm of rainfall per annum. The average wind speed in Jos East LGA is 11 km/h.


ECONOMY OF JOS EAST

Farming is the major economic activity in Jos East LGA with a wide variety of crops such as tomatoes, irish potatoes, salads, and onions cultivated in large quantities within the area. Trade also booms in Jos East with the area hosting several markets where a variety of commodities are bought and sold. Jos East LGA also hosts a number of Banks, Hotels, Restaurants, and Institutions. A variety of domestic Animals such as rams, goats and cows are also reared and sold in the LGA.
