About Jos North Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Jos North LGA is found in Plateau state, North-central Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Jos. Jos North LGA is bordered by Bassa, Jos east and Jos South LGAs and by parts of Bauchi state. The LGA is made up of several districts, towns, and villages which include Tudun wada, Ahwol, Gangare, Kabong, Naraguta, Tafawa Balewa, Mazah and Jenta Adamu. The estimated population of Jos North LGA is 289, 436 inhabitants with the area hosting members of diverse ethnic affiliations due to its cosmopolitan nature. The Gbong Gwom Jos is the traditional administrator of the LGA with the notable landmarks in the area comprising of the Jos wildlife park, the Museum of traditional architecture and the Plateau Specialist hospital.


GEOGRAPHY OF JOS NORTH

Jos North LGA covers a total area of 291 square kilometers and has an average temperature of 28 degrees centigrade. The area witnesses two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons with the total precipitation level in the area put at 1750 mm of rainfall per annum. The average wind speed in Jos North LGA is 11 km/h.


ECONOMY OF JOS NORTH

 Trade booms in Jos North LGA with the area hosting several markets such as the popular Terminus and the Katako markets where a variety of commodities are bought and sold. Jos North LGA also hosts a number of Banks, Hotels, Restaurants, and Institutions. A variety of domestic animals such as rams, goats and cows are also reared and sold in the LGA. Mineral deposits found in Jos North LGA include Tin.
