About Langtang South Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Langtang south local government area is in Plateau state, Northcentral Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Mabudi. Towns that make up Langtang South include Dadinkowa, Gamankai, Sabongida, Talguang, Kamkun, Nagani, Zambang, and Ubang. The estimated population of Langtang South LGA is put at 160,664 inhabitants with the vast majority of the area’s dwellers being members of the Tarok ethnic affiliation. The Tarok language is extensively spoken in Langtang south LGA while the religions of Islam and Christianity are practiced in the area. The Ponzhi Taroh is the paramount traditional ruler in the area while the notable landmarks in Langtang south LGA include the Langtang dam.


GEOGRAPHY OF LANGTANG SOUTH

Langtang South LGA covers a total area of 838 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 27 degrees centigrade. The area experiences two distinct seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons. The total precipitation level of Langtang North LGA is estimated at 1900 mm of rainfall per annum.


ECONOMY OF LANGTANG SOUTH

Langtang South has a viable Agricultural sector with the area known for the cultivation of a number of crops such as potatoes, pepper, onions, tomatoes and cucumber. A number of animals are also reared and sold in the area especially by the Fulani dwellers. Trade is also a key component of Langtang South LGA with the area hosting several markets where a variety of commodities are bought and sold.
