Idemili South

Idemili south LGA is situated in Anambra state, Southeast Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Ojoto. Idemili south LGA shares boundaries with Idemili North, Anaocha, Nnewi North, Ekwusigo and Ogbaru local government areas. The towns and villages that make up Idemili south LGA include Umunachi, Umudioka, Nnobi, Alor, Oba, Akwaukwu, Nnokwa, and Awka-etiti. The estimated population of Idemili South LGA is 159,631 inhabitants with the area’s populace made up of a majority of Igbo people. The Igbo language is extensively spoken in the LGA while Christianity is the widely practiced religion in the area. Popular festivals celebrated in Idemili south LGA include the New Yam and the Ofala festivals.

The LGA witnesses two distinct seasons which are the rainy and the dry seasons with average temperature of the area put at 25 degrees centigrade. Idemili south LGA has an average humidity level of 69 percent with an average wind speed of 11 km/h.
