About Orumba North Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Orumba North local government area is in Anambra state, South-east geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Ajali and the LGA is made up of several towns and villages which include Ndikelionwu, Okpeze, Nanka, Okoh, Omogho, Amaetiti, Awa, and Ndiokolo. The current estimated population of Orumba North LGA is put at 253,120 inhabitants with the area mostly inhabited by members of the Igbo ethnic division. The LGA’s commonly spoken language is the Igbo language while the most practiced religion in the area is Christianity. Popular festivals held in Orumba North LGA incude the New Yam festival while notable landmarks in the LGA include the Federal Polytechnic Okoh and the Awgbu Grammar School.


Orumba North LGA witnesses two major seasons which are the rainy season which usually occurs between the months of March to October and the dry season which is usually experienced between the months of November to February. The average temperature in the LGA is put at 26 degrees centigrade.


Orumba North LGA hosts several hotels, banks, industries, recreational centers, institutions of learning as well as government owned establishments. The LGA also has a viable trade sector with the area hosting several markets such as the Afor Udo Nanka and the Nkwo Omogho markets.Other important occupations indulged in by people of Orumba North LGA include farming, animal rearing, and beauty treatment.
