About Nnewi North Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Nnewi North local government area is found in Anambra state, South-east geopolitical enclave of Nigeria. The LGA consists of several towns and villages which include Nnewi, Otolo, Uruagu, Umudim, and Nnewichi. The estimated population of Nnewi North LGA is put at 241,713 inhabitants with the majority of the area’s dwellers being members of the Igbo ethnic affiliation. The Igbo language is commonly spoken in the LGA while the religion of Christianity is widely practiced in the area. The traditional ruler of Nnewi North LGA is referred to as the Igwe of Nnewi while the popular festivals held in the LGA include the Afiaolu and Ofala Nnewi festivals. Notable landmarks in Nnewi North LGA include the Demerald Enterprises Limited and the Tummy Tummy Food Industries limited.


Nnewi North LGA has an average temperature of 26 degrees centigrade and has several rivers and streams flowing through its territories. The LGA witnesses two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons. The average humidity level in Nnewi North LGA is put at 72 percent while the total precipitation in the area is estimated at 2550 mm of rainfall per annum.
