About Gubio Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Gubio local government area is situated in Borno state, Northeast geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Gubio and the area consists of several towns and villages which include Musari, Gazabure, Doili, Karaguwa, Karauwa, Moleram, Fulatami, and Kanguri. Gubio LGA is part of the illustrious Borno Emirate and has an estimated population of 159,638 inhabitants with the majority of the area’s dwellers being members of the Hausa and Fulani ethnic groups. The Hausa and Fufulde languages are commonly spoken in Gubio LGA while Islam is the widely practiced religion in the area.


Gubio LGA covers a total area of 2,464 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 35 degrees centigrade. The total precipitation in the area measures 750 mm of rainfall per annum with the average humidity level of the area pegged at 16 percent.


A number of animals are reared in Gubio LGA and these include cows, donkeys, and camels. Gubio local government area hosts a number of markets such as the Gubio livestock and the Gubio central markets. Other important economic activities in Gubio LGA include farming, blacksmithing, and wood carving.
