Kukawa

Kukawa local government area is domiciled in Borno state, North-east geopolitical zone of Nigeria. Kukawa LGA is part of the prestigious Borno Emirate and consists of a number of towns and villages such as Alagama, Yoyo, Kekeho, Bongoa, Degagu, Dabu, Kauwa, and Garanada. The estimated present population of Kukawa LGA is put at 159,738 inhabitants with the majority of the area’s inhabitants being members of the Kanuri ethnic division. The Kanuri language is widely spoken in the LGA while the religions of Islam and Christianity are practiced in the LGA.

Trade also flourishes in Kukawa LGA with the popular Baga fish market domiciled in the area. Other important economic activities engaged in by members of Kukawa LGA include farming and hunting.
