About Hawul Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Hawul local government area is found in Borno state which is domiciled in the Northeast geopolitical enclave of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Azare and the area is made up of towns and villages which include Dagiza, Bantali, Damudanaka, Kidang, Samari, Pakilama, Tong, Ghuma, and Shaffa. Hawul LGA is part of the Biu Emirate with the Emir superintending over the traditional affairs of the LGA. The estimated population of Hawul LGA is 171,801 inhabitants with the majority of the area’s inhabitants being members of the Hausa and the Fulani ethnic divisions. The Hausa, Kanuri, and Fufulde languages are commonly spoken in the LGA while Islam and Christianity are widely practiced in the LGA.


GEOGRAPHY OF HAWUL

Hawul LGA covers a total area of 2,098 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 34 degrees centigrade. The LGA witnesses two distinct seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons. The average wind speed in Hawul LGA is 10 km/h while the average humidity level of the area is 21 percent.


ECONOMY OF HAWUL

Farming is a major economic activity for the people of Hawul LGA with a variety of crops grown in the area. Also, a range of animals such as camels, horses and sheep are reared and sold in the area. Other important economic enterprises undertaken by the inhabitants of Hawul LGA include trade, pottery, and hunting.
