Mafa LGA is a part of the prestigious Borno Emirate and is made up of several towns and villages such as Umarari, Limanti, Koshebe, Gawa, Mbuta, Loslari, Anadua, and Masa. The estimated population of Mafa LGA is put at 247,882 inhabitants with the area mostly populated by members of the Shuwa ethnic affiliation. The Shuwa language is commonly spoken in the area while the religions of Islam and Christianity are practiced in the area.
