About Guzamala Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Guzamala local government area is in Borno state, Northeast Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Gudumbali.  Guzamala LGA is part of the illustrious Borno Emirate and comprises of towns and villages such as Malamti, Gudumbali, Wamiri, Moduri, Guworam, Adua, Mairari, and Guzamala.  The estimated population of Guzamala LGA is 153,429 inhabitants with the vast majority of the area’s inhabitants being members of the Kanuri ethnic group. The Kanuri and Hausa languages are extensively spoken in the LGA while Islam and Christianity are the commonly practiced religions in the area.


GEOGRAPHY OF GUZAMALA

Guzamala LGA covers a total area of 2,517 square kilometres and witnesses two distinct seasons; the dry season which runs from October to April and the rainy season which runs from May to September. The average temperature of Guzamala LGA is 33 degrees centigrade while the humidity levels of the area are at an average of 19 percent.


ECONOMY OF GUZAMALA

A number of crops such as groundnut, onions, rice and millet are grown in Guzamala LGA with animals such as camels and donkeys also reared and sold in the area. The LGA also hosts several markets where a wide variety of commodities are bought and sold by the inhabitants of the LGA and neighbouring climes. Other important economic activities undertaken by the dwellers of Guzamala LGA include wood carving, pottery and hunting.
