Okpe

Okpe local government area is in Delta state, South-south geopolitical zone of Nigeria with its headquarters in the town of Oreokpe. Towns and villages that make up Okpe LGA include Amuokpoko, Inabome, Oyohe, Olan, Ogiedi, Okuoke, Igbimidika, and Elume. The estimated population of Okpe LGA is put at 230, 446 inhabitants with the area mainly inhabited by members of the Urhobo ethnic group. The Urhobo language is extensively spoken in the LGA while the religions of Christianity and traditionalism are practiced in the area. Prominent traditional rulers in Okpe LGA include the Orodje of Okpe LGA while notable landmarks in the area include the Delta trade fair complex.

Trade is a distinct feature of the economy of Okpe LGA with the area hosting several markets which include the Orerokpe ultra-modern market. The LGA is also a hub for agricultural activities with a wide variety of crops cultivated in the area. Okpe LGA also hosts a number of banks, hotels, industries, private establishments and government owned institutions which contribute immensely to the economy of the LGA.
