About Babura Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Babura local government area is located in Jigawa state, Northwest Nigeria. With the headquarters of the LGA in the town of Babura, the area comprises of a number of towns and villages which include Bebur, Burukum, Gaskoli, Kafin Rabo, Inshanuwa, Dorawa, and Bai Ali. The population of Babura LGA is estimated at 138,744 inhabitants with Islam as the major religious affiliation within the area. Hausa and Fufulde are the commonly spoken languages in Babura while the area is home to a number of colourful festivals which include the Kokawa and the Dambe festivals.

Babura local government area covers a total area of 992 square kilometres with average temperature of the area estimated at 35 degrees centigrade. The wind speed Babura is pegged at 7 km/h while humidity levels are put at 16 percent.


ECONOMY OF BABURA

Babura is home to an agrarian populace and the area is renowned for the cultivation of a range of crops which include rice, beans, millet and sorghum. Other key economic enterprises of the people of Babura LGA include hunting and cattle rearing. Trade booms in the area with markets such as the Zango-daura, the Kanya, and the Babba markets providing veritable platforms for the exchange of a wide range of goods and services.
