About Miga Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Miga local government area is domiciled in Jigawa state, North-west geopolitical enclave of Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Miga. Miga LGA is a part of the Dutse Emirate and is made up of several towns and villages such as Zareku, Hantsu, Gululu, Takalafiya, Gwari, Sansari, Yanguwa, and Burji. The current estimated population of Miga LGA is put at 179,088 inhabitants with the majority of the area’s populace comprising of members of the Hausa and Fulani ethnic groups. The Hausa language is commonly spoken in Miga LGA while the religion of Islam is widely practiced in the area.


GEOGRAPHY OF MIGA

Miga LGA covers a total area of 586 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 34 degrees centigrade. The LGA witnesses two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons while the average humidity level in the area is estimated at 19 percent. 


ECONOMY OF MIGA

Farming is a key economic enterprise in Miga LGA with the area known for the production of a variety of food and cash crops. Also, Miga LGA is home to several animal rearers who rear and sell their animals within the area. Other important economic activities engaged in by the people of Miga LGA include trade, leatherworks, and hunting.
